The pub is found in City, Central London, EC3V 3NA.
This little pub was present by 1774 and can be found tucked away behind the Royal Exchange. The name is assumed to be an amalgamation of two earlier licences. Long-frequented by stockbrokers, the freehold was sold in 1872 for the then huge sum of £20,800 – this for a pub that has a footprint of just 18 feet by 55 feet. Historically a Charrington’s house, the pub closed in 2001 but re-opened the following year after acquisition by Shepherd Neame. Despite its diminutive size, the pub manages to have two distinct drinking areas. Much wood panelling.
We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 1 of them.
