Early lunchtime- first customer of the day. With the closure of the Kings Head this is the nearest I have to a local now. Southwest of Canterbury is a pub desert from here as far as the Artichoke in Chartham now. Good chat with the bar person. The pub now has some rather good letting rooms apparently.

Escaped from the Dane John music festival where the only passable beer was Curious Brew on keg at £5 a pint. Nice relaxing feel to the Maidens in the afternoon sunshine. Just the one real ale on again.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Weltons - English Pride3.80GoodPlain but nice and well kept.

Lunchtime - just a handful in. The pub changed hands just before Christmas and has had a makeover. Feels good but not much in the way of real ales. Landlord says he keeps just one on during the week but two at weekends.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - The Pardoner's Ale3.80GoodVery pleasant and in good condition.

Early evening - not pleasant - all day drinkers being very loud. This is definitely not a real ale pub - one ale on a Wantsum IPA - one sniff worried me - one taste and I knew it was undrinabke. Barman replaced it with a bottle after moaning that he had served 7 pints of it today. Turned the pump clip round - and then put it back as I left! I will not be going back.

Just after noon - thirsty after a tip run so any pint was going to be good - just one ale on - but this one was superb - enjoyed it in the sunshine.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Weltons - Quatre Bras4.60ExcellentFirst one out - but a little pulled off - really was delicious.
