Early evening- crammed inside with suits, spilling out onto the pavement. Another National Heritage Pub, very small front bar (that was once THREE separate bars). Back bar was reserved for a function unfortunately so I couldn’t see all the bling. Not as impressive (nor as expensive) as the Salisbury. I didn’t note all the beers - about 4 or 5, all from the Asahi stable.

My third St James’s Lion of the evening and second Red Lion. A beautiful pub. It is almost comically over-crowded at 7pm, but began to thin out a little thereafter.

The pub is found in Mayfair, Central London, SW1Y 6JP.
First licensed in 1788 and rebuilt in its present form in 1872, this pub has a splendid, late-Victorian interior, featuring woodwork, mirrors, a moulded ceiling and lots of etched-glass. Despite being only a little place, the former lay-out of five bars can still be just about worked out. Today there are effectively two separate bars, with vestiges of one of the partitions of the front bar still visible. This was a Nicholson’s house until recent acquisition by Fuller’s.
