Stunning multi roomed pub with wood panelling, stonework and wooden floors. “Dressed” elegantly with dark red curtains, lots of brass, gleaming glass and guilted pictures.

20:00 Not on the plan but door control meant it was racegoer free so went in for something to eat. A haven of peace.

Evening. I had been sent from the City centre via the Millennium Bridge by a helpful local person. With that feet aching detour lucky my rendezvous partners were still in residence. The open fire was welcoming but I was still steamin' from my route march.

19:15 A rare outing with Philip Pirrip and a mutual friend. A pub I hadn't visited for years and had forgotten how good it is. Superb little altered 1930s interior. Very welcoming staff. Pub was busy, mainly diners.
BeerABVScoreNotes

The pub is found in York, North Yorkshire, YO10 4AB.

On Fishergate, a road going south out of the City centre. An eye pleasing building rebuilt in 1935 in Tudor style for Tadcaster Tower Brewery. Built then with 3 rooms but the 2 on the right were subsequently combined. Rear river facing terrace. 8 handpumps, 4 in each bar with duplicated pump clips showing the full offering. Re-opened in late July 2016 after 7 months closure following serious Boxing Day flood damage.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 8 different beers and tried 5 of them.
