A bit of a cheat for this website, but I was treated to a very nice evening meal here on a brief visit to Ireland, and was pleased to find some decent beer to go with my food. I’m not really clear on the relationship between the restaurant and the pub downstairs.

Not a pub, but a restaurant situated upstairs above a pub, Donoghue’s, on the Market Square in the centre of Portlaoise. Beers are fetched up from the pub below and consist of the standard range of Irish keg beers, plus bottled beer from the Dungarvan Brewery.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried both.
