Cool on the hottest afternoon so far.The intriguingly fin de siecle interior was deserted in favour of the more grungy yard out back.Liked this pub.

Late afternoon with a light trade. Lots of staff, frequently checking whether I was OK and might wish to order food. The pub has moved significantly upmarket.

The pub is found in Poplar, Greater London, E14 7HG.
A most unusual pub in Commercial Road. Ornate frontage marble columns. A Grade II listed building that was formerly a convent and the unusual interior retains features from that time. The pub consists of one basic large room but the striking feature is the frieze of panels depicting various coats of arms with a plaster head of former monarchs at the apex of each panel. Pub reopened in March 2019 after substantial internal refurbishment and loss of much historic detail. There are four handpumps on the bar. Now operated by the Old Spot Pub Co.
