Ah, so this is West Hythe, I didn't know. A large industrial looking shed with lots of beers. Very popular with walkers and cyclist by the looks of the clientele. A little cold but perfectly pleasant.
Romney Marsh - Murmuration | 4.00 | | Brown earthy bitter, either lacking condition or just not well integrated. Given Romney are a good brewer I'm guessing the former. |
Hop Fuzz - English | 4.00 | Not Tried
Hop Fuzz - Greenstar | 4.20 | Not Tried

Late lunchtime- a swift one before tackling the lung-busting climb up the hill. Drizzly, so no one outside. A group of golfers inside chatting about par this and that and getting totally muddled between ABV and degrees proof when discussing the strengths of exotic spirits. Tried a Unit 1 IPA at 4.2 but it was cold and fizzy. My mistake - not obvious it was keg.
Hop Fuzz - Fallout | 3.60 | Not Tried
Hop Fuzz - Martello (superseded by 4.5% version) | 4.40 | Not Tried
22 May 2022 (Magnus Greel)
Busy as expected for a mid Sunday afternoon given the fine weather. No tables free outside so I opted for one of the few available inside.
Hop Fuzz - Fallout | 3.60 | | Toasted dry bitter perfection |
Hop Fuzz - Martello (superseded by 4.5% version) | 4.40 | | Malty traditional brown ale |
23 Jun 2021 (Jack William)
Lunchtime. Nicely busy outside in the sunshine.
Hop Fuzz - Martello (superseded by 4.4% then 4.5% versions) | 3.80 | | A little nutty? Perfect condition. |
Hop Fuzz - Goldsmith | 4.00 | | Not at its best, a bit lifeless and hazy. |
Romney Marsh - Session IPA | 3.80 | Not Tried

This has really developed since the picture taken in 2016 - good seating, large umbrellas and even some outdoor heating - not needed today. Well exercised COVID precautions. I sat outside in the warms sunshine with about 30 others. Good table service and a couple of excellent Hop Fuzz beers.
Hop Fuzz - Goldsmith | 4.00 | | Very smooth, crystal clear. |
Hop Fuzz - Fallout | 3.60 | | Superb beer at a low ABV |

Noon visit Sunday. Strict one-way system inside. About 17 tables outside rapidly filling up.
The pub hours (according to WhatPub) is every day from 11 until 7 (9 pm on Fri and Sat).
One other draft beer on not noted.
Hop Fuzz - Martello (superseded by 4.4% then 4.5% versions) | 3.80 | | Good body and condition. |
Romney Marsh - American Pale Ale | 5.00 | | Not very pale, cool but rather flat. |
08 Feb 2020 (Jack William)
Short walk with the family along the canal and then we were inside just after 12 bagging the comfy corner table (an upcycled cable drum) next to the wood burning stove. By the time we’d finished our drinks, and rather good bake potatoes, all tables inside and out were occupied - each with a dog it would seem.
We like this place.
Hop Fuzz - Bullion Bomb | 5.00 | | Now sold just as “Bullion”
A winner with my son and son-in-law. |
Hop Fuzz - Small Batch No. 3 Best Bitter | 4.00 | | Smooth, tasty trad bitter. Marked up as “Small Batch (best bitter) 4.0” |
Hop Fuzz - Goldsmith | 4.00 | Not Tried

Saturday afternoon and the rain was coming down so a good number of walkers and cyclists took refuge in here. My friend was impressed that his glass had both half pint and one third litre measure lines.
