9th stop of the Horsham outing: Surprising to see something so food-led but here taking after JD Wetherspoon which has some 850 pubs, in this approach, with still three cask on and one of them a local ale from East Sussex but certainly it did not feel like a pub with no wet-led area to even stand in. Quickly surveyed the beers and left since every table taken.

About The Red Deer

The pub sign. The Red Deer, Horsham, West Sussex

Website.

The pub is found in Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 1EE.

Described as a pub by CAMRA, The Red Deer, at 24D Carfax in Horsham’s town centre, is laid out as a restaurant. Food-led is the operative word in the description. Occupying a former Waitrose supermarket, there are four real ale lines normally from national ranges according to CAMRA. The interior is spacious and exhibits a mock 19th century look. Three cask displayed on a visit in January 2026 and with one from Firebird Brewing in East Sussex.

We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 0 of them.
