Lunchtime - getting busy with a couple of large booking for lunch. My first time here since the takeover by the Timber Batts guvs. Decor is as good as ever, with some additions from the Batts. Log fire and a Great Dane behind the bar! I sat at the bar and chatted to a local. Good feel to this latest incarnation.

Canterbury Ales (sometimes badged as Canterbrew) - Kentish Best3.70ExcellentFresh on and absolutely superb. A bit lively and I was encouraged to sup some so it could be topped up. Great.

Knowing we'd be in the area, and our interest piqued by Jack William's comments, we thought we'd reacquaint ourselves with this remote pub. Unfortunately they were unable to cater for walk ins for lunch, so we enjoyed our beer and moved on.

Kernel (The Kernel) - Brown Ale5.30GoodNot sure how to rate this, as am unfamiliar with the style. Some tartness;caramelised nuttiness.Enjoyable, so perhaps I'm a bit harsh.

Early evening, back for some more with the family. The pub is actually closed for the beer festival - except one room in the dry and ad the loos. Cold and drizzly so we only stayed about an hour. Spoke to new owner who has been here since November 2021 - everyone seems pleasant but I get the feeling that this is there first pub venture. I hope it goes well - lovely location and building.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Leigh on Sea - SS99.00ExcellentJust had to go for a half of the top ABV - based as "Impy Stout" quite superb.
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - chairman of the Board8.50ExcellentOnly had this in a bottle before - Eddie knows his stuff all right, delicious.
Unity - Root & Branch6.00GoodA good pint to finish on.
Farm Yard - Chaff4.70Acceptablemarked up as "Chaff Session IPA" @ 4.7% Very milky (unfenced) and a rather lemonady taste to me - ok, but not my style.

Early afternoon- there is a beer festival all weekend: “Cask 22”. Marquee in the garden with a very varied selection of about 25 cask ales. All beers at £5 a pint with a token system. Some strong beers in the selection (not all listed). This pub is now a Freehouse again after many years as a Shep’s house. This event looks like a good start. (New beers to be added - will have to do this on my desktop - scrolling through brewers is painful on iPad and iPhone)
BeerABVScoreNotes
Unity - Root & Branch6.00ExcellentA splendid beer, dark golden "Negroni IPA"
Time and Tide - ESB 2021 Harvest5.80Good

The pub is found in Sole Street, Crundale, Kent, CT4 7ES.

Re-opened September 2023 by the previous operators of the Timber Batts in Bodsham. Lovely 16th century inn located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on Crundale Downs. Oak beams, hanging hops and large fireplaces with wood-burners add to the atmosphere. The large garden is popular in the summer. The eclectic furnishings and exhibits formerly in the Timber Batts at Bodsham have moved here.

We have visited this pub times, seen different beers and tried them all.
