| Dorking - DB One Best | 4.20 | ![]() | Good head and lacing to start with but not lasting the whole way on this best bitter from Aldhurst Farm in Capel, Surrey, roughly 20 miles across the North Downs and Surrey Hills and where the brewery relocated to in 2018 following being set up in west Dorking in 2008. A very fruited first bite from its citrusy flavours. A dry bitterness rising with hints of toffee and biscuit from its blend of Bobek hops, also known as Styrian Golding B and a variety that originates from Slovenia, and Bramling Cross, a traditional British hop variety first developed in 1927 at Wye College in Kent. A fruity maltiness winning over from its 100% English malted barley. A sweetened hoppy note bowling out. Slightly beyond its best due to its loss of conditioning and lacing. |

The pub is found in Oxted, Surrey, RH8 9LB.
This well supported Royal British Legion Club, as noted on our visit in April 2026 when it was mentioned its membership runs into the hundreds, is open to visitors as well. At 42 Church Lane it commands a very attractive position overlooking Master Park which hosts cricket matches and just moments away from Oxted town centre. The clubhouse was built in 1921 following a donation and has always been a Royal British Legion Club ever since. The front bar has leaded windows with bench seating around them allowing great views of the cricket played in the park. Many military plaques adorn the walls and a dartboard is to one side of the main bar. At the rear of the bar is a larger room which has a games area with two snooker tables and one pool table and a further two dartboards. A glass cabinet by the bar is full of cups and plates commemorating a host of sporting competitions. Two cask beers are sold generally (but possibly only one real ale is on in the quieter winter months), usually including Fuller's London Pride. Non-members can easily be signed in as long as they make a small charitable donation. Two cask on, on our visit in April 2026 and surprisingly this is Oxted’s only real ale establishment, in not including those in Old Oxted, apart from The Oxted Inn at Oxted Station and run by Wetherspoon.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
