Dungarvan - Black Rock Stout | 4.30 | Classic dry roast Irish stout from Co.Waterford. Lots of roast malt with a full bodied flavour and dry, roasty finish. My score 16/20. | |
Trouble Brewing - OR Golden Ale | 4.30 | Golden ale from Co.Kildare, quite hoppy and bitter with some malt balance. My score 15/20. | |
Eight Degrees - Sunburnt Irish Red | 5.00 | Malty strong red ale from Co.Cork with hints of toffee and roast malt and also some hop and fruit in the finish. My score 15/20. | |
Metalman - Pale Ale | 4.30 | Brewed at White Gypsy at present, this was a dryish, bitter pale ale with a dry, fairly hoppy finish. My score 14/20. | |
West Kerry - Cul Dorcha | 5.70 | A very traditional Irish ale from Co.Kerry. Red in colour with a very strong smoked flavour, probably involving peat. Very little hop character and a very dry, smokey finish. My score 14/20. |
Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Revolutions - Staithes Boulby Bronze | 3.60 | Well balanced bronze beer with a good hop character and malt for balance. Brewed at Revolutions by Staithes while they await planning permission for their brewery in a national park. My score 15/20. | |
Beavertown - Neck Oil (keg) | 4.30 | An escapee from one of London's latest breweries, this was still a work in progress, with a thin, appley flavour and giving the impression that it hadn't fermented out properly. My score 13/20. | |
Belvoir - Dark Horse | 3.40 | Not Tried | |
Belvoir - Oliver Pist | 4.40 | Not Tried | Leicester Festival Dickens theme special. |

The pub is found in Leicester, Leicestershire, LE1 2HS.
Wedge shaped former Everards pub now free of tie and in the hands of an enthusiatic young publican who has majored on getting a good variety of real ales on to 5 singleton handpumps. Belvoir beers are regularly on the bar along with guests, often from the Staithes brewing operation. Located in the shadow of the soon to be demolished road flyover. At September 2012 gives a discount on real ale prices to card carrying CAMRA members. At end September 2012 there is talk of the current publican leaving.
We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 11 different beers and tried 9 of them.
