Caught the tail end of the Winter Beer Festival and grabbed a bite to eat on Sunday lunch. Arrived shortly after opening, was quiet at first but gradually filled up as the afternoon wore on. Selection of six cask ales (usually 2 or 3 on in the week, maybe 4 at weekends). Relaxed, comfy interior. Owner Jamie is an excellent host, making a point of chatting to each customer and very interested in his beer.

| Hop Back - Elf & Hoppiness | 3.90 | | Massively hoppy with some harsh bitterness offset by late detectable festive spices. An extreme beer but I liked it. |
| Wychwood (now brewed at Banks's) - Winter's Troll | 4.80 | | Nothing wrong with the conditioning here, this is just another dull, nondescript Marstons Pedigree-like beer. |
| Tirril - Old Faithful | 4.00 | | Much lighter coloured than I remembered it, think I may have been served another beer by mistake. This was also a bit mature and would have benefited from a faster turnover. |
| Brentwood - Chestnut Stout | 3.90 | | Labelled as 3.999%, brewed with addition of chestnuts. This one seemed very tired with a hint of sulphur. Mine was the last half served before it was taken off. |

Attractive wedge-shaped Victorian pub situated off the beaten track in trendy East Dulwich. Very friendly and personable staff. Focus is on good beer (both cask ale and an impressive array of foreign bottled beer) and quality, well presented food. Frequent live music and pub quiz on Thursdays. Well worth locating if in the area.
We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 12 different beers and tried them all.
