Visits Details

An hour and 18 trams stops after leaving The Crown an urgent PNB was sought before selecting a beer, much to the jovial and attentive barmaid's amusement. Busy mid afternoon with a variety of early shift workers enjoying a post work beer or 3!

Another excellent boozer close to a tram stop. One of the ladies behind the counter told us that she was the brewer, which we corrected to Brewster. See Jason's entry for full beer listing.

A few punters in at lunchtime on a Monday. Now serves Thai food lunchtimes.
Alcazar - Black Fox Mild | 3.90 | | Quite bitter ruby/black mild with toasty, woody and liquorice flavours all present. The finish has a little hop and then dryness. My score 14/20. |

It was late on a Tuesday evening, the pub was busy with people watching sports on the television screens, and a group of people enjoying a birthday party.
Alcazar - Vixen's Vice | 5.20 | | A good hoppy pale ale. |
Alcazar - Sherrif's Gold | 3.60 | | Pale in colour, a good session ale. Slightly on the sweet side. |

Unfortunately no mild available on the mild trail on the day of my visit.

Arrived about 1.30pm and the pub was fairly empty but then again it's a large interior. The bar is horse-shoe shaped with a single horse-shoe room around the edge. The barman was friendly and the thai food excellent.
Alcazar - Alcazar Ale | 4.00 | | Golden beer. Good creamy head. Big pink grapefruit hop flavour with golden malt notes. Bit of rose petal. |
Alcazar - Brush Bitter | 4.90 | | Good best bitter. Dark brown, good malt with marmite bite. |
Alcazar - New Dawn | 4.50 | | Butterscotch malt with a nutty finish for this pale gold beer. |
Alcazar - Nottingham Nog | 4.20 | | Dark caramel brown colour with an intial yeasty flavour followed by a nutty burnt sugar bite. |
Alcazar - Vixen's Vice | 5.20 | | Brown gold colour. Sharp and uncultured bitterness. Nothing wrong with it but it just really isn't to my taste. |
Alcazar - Windjammer | 6.00 | Not Tried | |

Brewery tap for Alcazar Brewery. Conveniently situated right on the Tram line. Pine interior but pleasant - not too smoky and a good buzz about the place. Staff friendly and generally helpful. Excellent Thai food available in the evening. Nice paved patio area (with large windows to see into the brewery (sigh) and good lavs.
Alcazar - George in Time | 4.00 | | Chocolatey coffee mild - absolutely stupendous. As good if not better than the fabled Goacher's Mild - certainly even bettre than Rock Mild. Smooth yet not sickly at all. One to bring to Lyme Regis on a summer holiday if one were to go there? |
Alcazar - New Dawn | 4.50 | | Hoppy nose and bite. Really delicious - session beer yet tastes like a 5%er! Lovely. |
Alcazar - Brush Bitter | 4.90 | | Ruby bitter - not dissimilar to Nottingham Brewery Legend but nicer. Not really my cp of tea but very quaffable. Rich but not sickly. |
Alcazar - Alcazar Ale | 4.00 | | Flowery yet slightly disappointing. Possibly bottom of barrel (weak head and acidic after taste). Nevertheless very drinkable. |
