Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Tring - Side Pocket for a Toad | 3.60 | Amber good hop nose, bit sherberty. Some orange and citrus. More orange citrus in mouth leads to a crisp finish | |
Burton Bridge - Golden Delicious | 3.80 | Golden colour thin white head. Bit of hay on nose some green apple acids, then some toffee, caramel leading to caramel smooth finish. Nose is not too attractive but otherwise this is ok | |
Hanlons (formerly O'Hanlon's) - Yellow Hammer | 4.20 | Orange coloured beer, honey and ginger aroma, smooth in mouth with good spicey hop finish. Bit watery in mouth but quite nice | |
Salopian - Heaven Sent | 4.50 | Orange, amber colour with bubbly white head. Not sure what to make of this. Some citrus and banana, with more banana on palate. Spicey finish, not a lot of hop except on end. | |
Triple fff - Moondance | 4.20 | Dark copper colour, no head. Sweetish nose with spicey hop bit of golden syrup, bit sweet. Spicey hop on end with a little brown sugar? | |
Wem (formerly Hanby) - All Seasons | 4.20 | Orange colour slightly cloudy, on the way out I think. Some hop, dusty, earthy flavour, some dry hop on the finish | |
Teignworthy - Reel Ale | 4.00 | Orange thin bubbly off white head. Cut grass aromas, green apple, earthy hops. Sweetish in mouth, touch of toffee, end is sweetish and a little unpleasant | |

The Beer Festival is found in Ashford, Kent, TN24 8QQ.
Ashford rugby club is just off the A28 coming out of Ashford towards Canterbury. Several rugby pitches are served by a red brick clubhouse. To one side a white marquee had been erected to store the cask beers served on gravity. Clubhouse has Spitfire on handpull and Masterbrew Smooth on keg as its regular bitters.
We have visited this Beer Festival once, seen 15 different beers and tried 7 of them.
