The pub is found in Stoke Newington, Greater London, N16 7HU.
A long-standing, high street pub which did not exactly have a good reputation either for its clientele or for its beer. That all changed in around April 2010 when the pub was revamped in alehouse-style. There is a large, single room with plenty of wooden furniture and an open-plan kitchen. There are also pavement tables outside. Food is available at all times, but does not dominate. There is a long line of handpumps, dispensing cider as well as beer, plus a clutch of keg fonts with an ever-changing range of keg beers from craft brewers. Look for the faded tiling on the exterior wall, and note that one of the pub signs bares more than a passing resemblance to that of another fabled freehouse not so far away, although the two are no relation.
