One of my favourite pubs in Kent. It feels like someone's house. It is set up high on the top of the North Downs amongst woods and fields. There is assorted bric-a-brac and curios in this two room pub. The smallish bar had 5 handpumps and some seating for locals and a real fire. If you go down a couple of steps you have more tables and chairs for seating, a stove and a piano. Old radios are in evidence as well as hot cross buns nailed to the overhead beams, spoons and wishbones. The beer range always comes from UK micros.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wentworth - Santa's Secret4.00ExcellentMahogany colour. Lasting beige head. Lots of toasted malt. Cookies. Coffee. Bit powdery, very malty. Bit meaty. Hop is present too, to give it a touch of spice. Very good best bitter.
Westerham - God's Wallop (see now 4% entry)4.50AcceptableDelivered by the brewer. Reddy, chestnut colour with lasting off white head. Bit of candy sugar, some malt, some hop. Bit sweet.
White Horse - Christmas Ale4.80AcceptableDeep chestnut, lasting bubbly beige head. Bit of citrus. Astringent hop. Some choc malt in mouth. OK, best bitter, some nut. Hops have good sharp character
Sawbridgeworth - Erbert3.80AcceptableDeep brown/chestnut colour. Lasting beige head. Good strong hop flavour, bit woody, bit of vinegar, maybe a bit tired, but hop is nice. Finish has more tartness. Later found that it is brewed with coriander which would explain the spice.

Arived about mid-day and the pub was fairly quiet. It felt like being in someones house with a whole range of odd things here, there, and everywhere. Good pub, if a little cold in temperature.

The pub is found in Kemsing, Kent, TN15 6XD.

Lovely old flint building on Cotmans Ash Lane, with a small front bar area and a larger room sunken to the side. Plenty of interesting things on the walls including a row of hot-cross buns and an Eccles Cake. Thought to have closed permanently in January 2020 upon retirement of the lady licensee. Surprisingly, against all the odds, re-opened on Friday 6th August 2021.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 5 different beers and tried them all.
