4th visit of the outing: Packed inside with everyone seated and squeezed around tables in this McMullen's Brewery taproom. They have been brewing beer in Hertford since it was founded in 1827. On top of being packed out, there was music belting out at a high rate of decibels that two of the now four of us did not welcome and so I gladly moved on with one other to hopefully a quieter drinking hole to follow. The line-up of beers was of course all McMullen ales. No one though drinking at the bar and so service would have been speedy in the time I observed what was on.

Late morning and an early afternoon visit, a pleasant riverside pub in the town centre with friendly staff and good service. One downside though, two of us looked at the menu and agreed that there was absolutely nothing on it that we would want to eat, obviously neither of us were in to burgers.

The pub is found in Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG14 1PZ.
Located by the main bridge over the River Lea in the town centre including an attractive outside riverside terrace seated area. Inside the pub is one large open area with a bar counter with 5 handpumps. It lives up to its unofficial title of MaMullen Brewery tap as the walls and cabinets are adorned with McMullen Brewery artifacts such as pump clips, posters, signs and beer cans. There are a number of styles of tables and chairs including some chesterfields and intriguingly one smallish square table whose top is an old The Woolpack pictorial pub sign and another very large table whose top is an old McMullen Hertford Brewery direction sign.
