12:30 Planning to take the family out for lunch noticed this place had a child friendly symbol in the GBG. As described it is a gastro pub, especially at Sunday lunchtime, but it does advertise music nights and there is an upright piano in the bar. Much altered interior, but the booth with two built in benches surrounding the fireplace is very attractive. The beer choice was interesting and well kept, and the food was excellent. A rare combination.

I hadn't been here since my first year History Society pub crawl and it has changed a lot since then. Although I don't like gastro pubs in general, this is a sympathetic refurbishment and I think it works well. Friendly staff.
