Evening. Easily missed but I found it on a diversion to avoid a team hosing down the side roads. Intricate floor tile-work and mirrored walls. No real ale so a rather metallic fizz Extra Stout was employed for thirst slaking. Amused by the Sam Smithesque 1.58% surcharge on all card transactions.

A wonderful little pub that at one time was a part of the Punch Tavern, but is now a separate operation. Removal of the two handpumps here (Sam Smith’s seem deliberately to swim against every trend going) means this was my chance to lash out on one of the expensive bottled beers.

Poured from a bottle. I had been looking forward to trying this, but it was a disappointment. The hop flavours were subdued, and the bottle heavily carbonated.

14:15 Empty when we walked in. Had a half of fizz stout as we wanted to take photographs and it would have been rude not to.

The pub is found in City, Central London, EC4Y 8DT.
Sandwiched between the Old Bell and the Punch Tavern in Fleet Street. The interior has undergone a complete restoration by Sam Smith's and it is magnificent. A modern version of a Victorian Gin Palace. Sadly no real ale.
