The pub is found in Aldgate, Central London, EC3N 2EX.
Formerly Hennessy's, this pub is believed to have been established as the Three Tuns in around 1700 when it was built on a former plague pit, facing the city walls. It was rebuilt in its present form in 1939 and the ground floor partitions were removed in 1956 to give the current single bar layout. Historically a Charrington’s house, the name of the pub was changed to Hennessy’s in 2003 to reflect the pub’s ownership by the Hennessy family. April 2014 saw a change of ownership, with the pub re-opening after redecoration and back under the Three Tuns name. There is a small backyard drinking area and there are plans to bring upper rooms and a roof garden back in to use.
We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 7 different beers and tried 3 of them.
