Visits Details

10 Aug 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Wasted journey - all Shepherd Neame signage removed and ground floor windows boarded up from the inside. Assume gone for good. At one time, certainly in the 80s, a perennial on the local Shepherd Neame annual ale trails. With the previous closure of the Chequers (now flats) in the village in 2008 it is now a pub-less place.

About the Railway Tavern

The pub sign. Railway Tavern, Higham, Kent

The pub is found in Higham, Kent, ME3 7JB.

In Chequers Street in Lower Higham some 400m from Higham railway station. Originally a pub and bakery and at one time hosted the Post Office. Attractive garden and patio. At August 2014 all signage removed and ground floor windows boarded from the inside so check before travelling to visit as looks closed for good. Planning permission given to convert to a private house for residential purposes.

We have visited this pub once, seen 0 different beers and tried them all.
