A long time since I was last here, and the pub has been considerably smartened. Busy with lunchtime diners, but plenty of room for a pint in the garden.

The pub is found in Wolvercote, Oxfordshire, OX2 8PN.
A classic riverside pub that can trace its origins back to 1138 when it was a hostelry attached to Godstow Abbey, the ruins of which lie nearby. The present building has parts which date from the 17th century. Quite how long it has been a pub in the conventional sense is a matter of speculation; probably 300 years plus. It is stone-built, with low ceiling beams. Several rooms and a large riverside terrace and garden. Much modernised inside, where the focus is on serving meals.
