Early evening visit – this pub is 10 minutes walk from my hotel so seems an obvious place to visit. Quite busy, and with a quick turnover of customers.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Loch Lomond - Silkie Stout5.00ExcellentVery nice, smooth, black stout. Lots of roasted malt and chocolate tastes – almost worth 5 stars.

After having met up with the main Swedish contingent of the Ratebeer weekend at the Tennent's Bar, we came down to the Three Judges again as Tom had organised for Crouch Vale Brewers Extra Gold to be on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Fyne - Avalanche4.50ExceptionalBeer of the day for me. Gold, thin white head. Lovely citrusy bitter. Superb. Great beer in the Dark Star Hophead, Oakham JHB line. Excellent. So good I had another pint of it.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold Extra5.20ExcellentNot on top form, but still very good grapefruit fruit.
Durham - Green Goddess3.80GoodPale gold, thin white head. Fine, normal pale gold beer, decent citrus. Totally acceptable golden citrus beer. Good grapefruit. NIce crisp finish.
Strathaven - Duchess Anne Light Ale3.90AcceptableGold, lasting white head. Odd ashy, buttery flavour. Gets better as the half went down. Decent citrus flavours, bit over oxidised.

Probably my favourite of the pubs we went into. Fairly quiet and it was a beautiful day, so we sat outside. Beers are maybe vented for too long which gives them an over oxidised feel instead of being really fresh.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hadrian and Border - Byker Gem4.30GoodCopper colour with lovely aroma. Some tangerine. Good citrus. Good acidity on the end. Bit of nettle on the hop.
Strathaven - Avondale Amber Ale4.00AcceptableGold, lasting white head. Decent golden beer, some good hop but a little dusty on the end.
Hadrian and Border - Gladiator3.80PoorPale chestnut with thin beige head. Some malt, bit vegetal and not very good
Idle - Idle Landlord4.60PoorRuby with thin beige head. It’s alright, some fairly basic malt, farty aroma. Not great.
