A remarkable survivor, a virtually unchanged post war pub. The pub is part of a purpose built shopping precinct which has a covered market area and a brick clock tower. The pub is named after, and is presumably contemporaneous with, the 1951 Festival of Britain. The logo of the Festival is shown on one side of the pub sign and also on a rather splendid mirror in the public bar. The interior consists of a public bar, an off-sales that is no longer in use but remains intact, and a large saloon bar with bench seating all along one wall. The only change may be that this was formerly two rooms as suggested by the bar counter having two hatchways into the room.
