A late lunch in what is probably Hastings’ loveliest pub. Really good food too. There was also a Pig & Porter beer.

Amber in colour. A bit too much at the toffee-malt end of the beer spectrum for me.

I liked this pub back in its Harvey’s days and am even more impressed by the latest revamp. Others are clearly impressed too as it was standing room only when I visited shortly after noon on a Sunday. I have mislaid details of all the beers available on this visit.

Golden/amber in colour, this is a very tasty wheat beer, heavily hopped with US Vic Secret hops. I liked it a lot.
The pub is found in Hastings, East Sussex, TN34 3BN.
In All Saints Street in the Old Town area, there was a Crown Inn in Hastings by Tudor times and it was established on the present site by the eighteenth century. Downgraded from an inn to merely a pub by the 1890s, it was rebuilt in its present (smaller) style in the 1920s. For many years a Watney's house, then briefly a Harveys tied house in the late twentieth century, it has now been relaunched as an independent pub, featuring locally sourced food and drink.
We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 14 different beers and tried 6 of them.
