The pub is found in City, Central London, EC4V 2BA.
A small, City pub in Garlick Hill that was once one of several in this area called the Three Cranes (more of a dockland reference than an ornithological or heraldic reference). In 1938, the name changed to the Hatchet when a full licence was transferred here from an old pub called the Hatchet nearby on Little Trinity Lane. It was a Charrington’s pub (as evidenced by the surviving green-panelled windows), later becoming a Greene King pub in 1993. 2016 saw a complete refurbishment of the pub and the reversion to the Three Cranes name. There are two small ground floor bars, one with a beaten metal ceiling, and a first floor dining room. Beers are served from taps set into the back wall, with two reserved for cask-conditioned beer. The pub is very handy for Mansion House tube station. Now operated by Harcourt Inns. Closed December 2023 with freehold for sale. Re-opened in August 2024.
