| Hogs Back - Tongham TEA (previously T.E.A.) | 4.20 | ![]() | This came with very good head and lacing and lasting throughout on this local Tongham TEA (Traditional English Ale) from Manor Farm in Tongham, Surrey, and about 12 miles away from Horsell. The brewery was established in 1992 and is housed in 18th-century farm buildings that once held wheat and cattle. The brewery got its name from the nearby Hogs Back ridge, a local geological feature that resembles a sleeping hog. A malty first bite on this lively tawny copper coloured bitter. A gentle lemony hoppiness rising and no doubt derived from the brewery’s own on-site hop garden established in 2014. Its 100% Surrey-grown Fuggles hops lending this ale a firm prevailing bitterness. A biscuity maltiness winning over from its English malted barley and behind its toffee-flavoured malty infusions. A dry hoppiness lingering on my palate before its descent down my gullet. Served in top condition. |
