This pub has been substantially renovated since my last visit quite a few years ago. I meet Dave R here for an early pint after work – we are frustrated to find that whilst not very busy, most tables in the front bar are unoccupied but marked as ‘reserved’.

Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30GoodIn contrast to my first pint here, this was on very fine form.
Dark Star - Hophead was 3.8% (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.40AcceptableAn insipid pint. Not a patch on what it should be and barely acceptable.

The pub is found in Clerkenwell, Central London, EC1R 3DJ.

Established in 1790, this street corner pub stands in the valley of the River Fleet, the river itself now confined to a culvert. Historically the Coach & Horses, the second half of the name has been lost unfortunately. Divided into two bars, the front bar is a comfortable area for drinkers, whilst the rear bar is filled with tables laid for diners. There are pavement tables at the front.

We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried both.
