Beer | ABV | Score | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Grain - Slate | 6.00 | 11th and final one: pleased to end on a really good one for head and lacing. It was a very moreish porter that had a malty and chocolatey mouthfeel and a sweet aftertaste. | |
Godstone - Trenchman's Hop | 3.80 | 4th one: superb head and lacing. A very malty first hit with a slightly hoppy mouthfeel and a very moreish aftertaste. | |
Dorking - Winter's Coming | 4.50 | 10th one: only two Dorking beers at the festival but the volunteer accidentally gave me their Dorking Stanza by mistake. Took that back as meant to be a red ale is the Winter's Coming. Not much head or lacing with it as only lasted a few minutes. Very berry flavoured and so a fruity mouthfeel. A sweet and slightly bitter aftertaste. | |
Brolly - Brollyhead - Pale and Golden | 3.80 | First one tried and good head and lacing. Lightly fruity with a dry mouthfeel. After my long walk to Gatton Park and back, a half was necessary to cool down with and before then sampling thirds at the festival. | |
Titsey - Green & Gold (2024) | 4.00 | 2nd and now all third measures: good head and lacing. Very hoppy mouthfeel with a lingering and slightly oily aftertaste. | |
Northdown - Green Hop - (2024) Pale | 4.50 | 3rd one: good head and lacing. Not like other green hop cask beers I have tried over the last month. This one was very sharp on my first mouthful and slightly applely to taste. A touch hazy with a very fruity and sour mouthfeel and a sharpness persisted in its aftertaste. | |
Mauldons - Old Ale | 4.00 | 6th one: good head and lacing. Very malty flavouring. A touch of liquorish in the mouthfeel with a very dry but slightly watery aftertaste. | |
Gun - Green Hop (2024) - Pale | 5.00 | 7th one: good head and lacing. A very hoppy and fruity first hit with a lingering hoppiness. | |
Elgood's - Blackberry Porter | 4.50 | 9th one: not much but a tiny amount of head and lacing. 1st hit was in sniffing it and like smelling a blackberry tart! It tasted of this of course and you could almost taste the pastry. A very dry aftertaste with blackberry flavouring definitely lingering on! | |
Firebird - Heritage Sussex Best - Bitter | 4.00 | 5th one: good head and lacing. A sour, fruity mouthfeel with a lingering maltiness. | |
Brolly - Green-hopped Old | 5.40 | 8th one: no head or lacing. A smokey mouthfeel with a hoppy and slightly earthy aftertaste. |

Not too big a venue to navigate your way around in or find others who you were expecting to meet there. Busy but not impossibly busy on the opening day, 31st October 2024.
