The pub is found in Bethnal Green, Greater London, E2 8QY.
This pub was established by 1842 as the Duke of Sussex and originally it was tied to the nearby West's Brewery. It passed to Charrington’s via Hoare's and by the early 1980s had been acquired by Shepherd Neame. It became a freehouse in 1994 and in 1997 the name was changed to the Albion, to reflect the then owner’s football predilections. It is a small pub, with at that time a decor which was dominated by football paraphernalia. There is a small, walled, patio garden and a conservatory to the side. Further renamed to The Virgin Queen in December 2017, at which time all the football memorabilia was removed and the pub fully refurbished. A lot of wood panelling has been installed along with a fireplace and a splendid wood bar-back – all salvaged from a former pub somewhere. .
We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 7 different beers and tried 3 of them.
