Afternoon. Not fully privy to exactly what had gone wrong but only the first few of our party got handpumped real ale. Most had to settle for fizz bottled beer or keg lagers or Guinness. I had a rather metallic tasting draught Guinness, quite a few opted for nowt which was, in hindsight, the correct decision. The friendly bar staff braved through this mini disaster with a smile.

My first visit here, the pub had opened early for us but unfortunately they were short of beer as they had had to send some back to the brewery, and the promised emergency delivery of racked beer had not arrived. There was not enough cask ale left for all of our group but I was lucky enough to get the penultimate pint. I really liked this place as it is a proper pub with a good friendly atmosphere. As luck would have it the brewer's dray turned up just as we were leaving.

Delightful traditional village pub. Linked by family connections to the Tom Wood's Brewery. Sports 4 handpumps. Whitewashed 2 storey house with a jolly faded pub sign. In the 2013 CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
