Mid afternoon- a few, mainly quiet drinkers inside and outside in the sunshine. Glad to see a fair amount of Jeffrey Bernard memorabilia on the walls.

Afternoon visit and very friendly customers and bar staff who all seemed concerned about the pub's future as a proper traditional boozer. One of the bar staff challenged me to say what the purpose of the trough at the bottom of the front was, and was surprised when I said that is a spitoon, apparently only about one in a thousand customers know that. I hope that this pub continues as it is complete with the allegedly grumpy landlord.

15:15 As previously stated, a favourite pub of mine so failed to walk by. Fairly quiet today and only one beer on.

14:30 Another pub not on the plan but too near not to go in. Not been here for some time but amongst my favourite London pubs as long as it's not too busy. Of the three distinct areas only the middle one was busy. We sat at the far end and enjoyed the atmosphere. As the pub was quiet I noticed for the first time that the bar counter differs in each of the three former separate rooms. Furthest left, counter top flush with counter front and a stone spittoon at the base, middle, counter top extends over the counter front and there is a stone spittoon trough at the base, third room, counter top extends over the counter front but there is no stone spittoon. Presumably public to the left, saloon to the right and a halfway house in the middle.

Early evening visit and the pub is not over-crowded. I enjoyed seeing the old spittoons that still surround part of the bar, but was not brave enough to use one.

The pub is found in Soho, Central London, W1D 5DH.

A typical, street corner Soho pub in Greek Street – a type of which there are still many examples. There is a single bar area, divided into three sections by wood-panelling which probably dates from the last significant re-vamp of the pub in the 1940s. Famous in recent years for the old-school landlord and characterful customers of “Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell” fame – the pub has now largely moved on from those days. Added to CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors in summer 2019.

We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 8 different beers and tried 3 of them.
