The pub is found in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL9 5AX.
Ancient pub in the centre of Old Hatfield in Park Street. The original peg-tiled building is curved following the street shape. It extends into a newer three storey building on the left hand side. The interior is divided into a number of drinking areas with built in bench seating and open fires. It was originally the five bells but the name was changed in the 18th century when the ring of bells in the nearby church was increased. The pub is thought to be the inspiration for the pub that Bill Sykes fled to following the murder of Nancy in Oliver Twist. From November 2019 run by Farr Brewery.
We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 1 of them.
