The pub is found in Aldgate, Central London, E1 7RA.
The White Hart is the only surviving pub on Whitechapel High Street (there were formerly 20 or 21), having been established in 1721. It has a narrow frontage on to the street, with a small seating area at the front, an area alongside the bar counter that is not much wider than a corridor, and then opening out into a wider seating area at the rear. The back area can also be accessed from an alleyway. For a brief period in the 1990s the pub was named ‘Clutterbucks Ale House’, part of a real ale chain, and it retains 14 handpumps on the bar from this period. The pub is very much on the ‘Jack the Ripper’ trail. No real ale by 2023.
We have visited this pub once, seen 4 different beers and tried 1 of them.
