12:30 Having traversed the new Bicester curve on a train from Marylebone we caught the rail replacement bus from Oxford Parkway got off in St Giles and came here. Pub was about half full.

Early evening and I rather liked this pub. Good range of beers and nice atmosphere.

The pub is found in Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX1 3JS.
On St Giles, opposite the Eagle and Child. Largish multi room pub with bar in large front room which then goes into an L shape and serves side room. St John’s College took back this pub from a previous leaseholder in 1999 and, after initially threatening to close the pub, they began operating it as a free house. The upstairs rooms were converted into student accommodation, and some of the profits from the pub are used to provide bursaries. Started by the college that after losses during the Covid pandemic the venue will permanently close on 31st January 2021. Eventually re-opened October 2022.
