Saturday lunchtime- very busy but got a table inside. I hadn’t realised that this had changed ownership. The beers taps on the back wall are now clearly marked up as “Cask” and “Keg”. Good atmosphere but this is clearly now a more family oriented venture than a brewery tap.

Romney Marsh - RMB Ten4.50GoodGood solid best bitter.
Hop Fuzz - Old Chap English Bitter4.00AcceptableFlat, very flat. Quite drinkable however.

Second stop on the minibus tour. Yeah, it's a big shed. We had a large table booked and some people ate. Bit chilly inside buy perfectly amiable.

Ah, so this is West Hythe, I didn't know. A large industrial looking shed with lots of beers. Very popular with walkers and cyclist by the looks of the clientele. A little cold but perfectly pleasant.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Romney Marsh - Murmuration4.00AcceptableBrown earthy bitter, either lacking condition or just not well integrated. Given Romney are a good brewer I'm guessing the former.

Late lunchtime- a swift one before tackling the lung-busting climb up the hill. Drizzly, so no one outside. A group of golfers inside chatting about par this and that and getting totally muddled between ABV and degrees proof when discussing the strengths of exotic spirits. Tried a Unit 1 IPA at 4.2 but it was cold and fizzy. My mistake - not obvious it was keg.

This has really developed since the picture taken in 2016 - good seating, large umbrellas and even some outdoor heating - not needed today. Well exercised COVID precautions. I sat outside in the warms sunshine with about 30 others. Good table service and a couple of excellent Hop Fuzz beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hop Fuzz - Goldsmith4.00Excellent Very smooth, crystal clear.
Hop Fuzz - Fallout3.60ExcellentSuperb beer at a low ABV

Noon visit Sunday. Strict one-way system inside. About 17 tables outside rapidly filling up. The pub hours (according to WhatPub) is every day from 11 until 7 (9 pm on Fri and Sat). One other draft beer on not noted.

Short walk with the family along the canal and then we were inside just after 12 bagging the comfy corner table (an upcycled cable drum) next to the wood burning stove. By the time we’d finished our drinks, and rather good bake potatoes, all tables inside and out were occupied - each with a dog it would seem. We like this place.
