Leigh on Sea - Mayflower | 4.00 | ![]() | Once again this Leigh on Sea amber best bitter came with very good head and lacing and lasting to the end. A good malty bitter first bite. A fruity hoppiness winning over my taste buds. A pleasantly hop-infused bitter dryness sailing off and still very moreish in its finale movement! |

Leigh on Sea - Mayflower | 4.00 | ![]() | This Leigh on Sea amber best bitter, brewed especially for their friends at the Mayflower down in Old Leigh, presented very good head and lacing and lasting to the end. A malty bitter first hit. A fruity note or two veering up among its pervading hoppiness. A dry hoppy bitterness playing out. Very moreish! |
Leigh on Sea - Bawley Bitter | 3.40 | ![]() | This Leigh on Sea bitter came with very good head and lacing and lasting throughout. A dry bitter first bite. A mildly hoppy bitterness rising from its Bramling Cross and Brewer’s Gold hops emitting a spicy hedgerow fruitiness and blackcurrant flavouring. A hoppy bitter note playing out with a moreish dryness lingering. The bitter's name is in homage to the traditional small fishing boats used in the Thames Estuary to bring back cockles and shrimps. |

The pub is found in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, SS9 5PR.
Leigh on Sea Brewery was founded in 2017. Ian Rydings and Mark Springham shared an idea while on a pub-crawl in Old Leigh in December 2016 of how wonderful it would be to have beers made in Leigh, celebrating its history and landmarks. Its on-site brewery tap room is at 35 Progress Road, set back from the main road and almost opposite Cabinet Way on the other side of Progress Road, and features in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide. Two cask on handpumps and six KeyKeg lines. A small indoor seating area with bar top made of cockleshells and a covered and heated outside seating area. Regular live music and food pop-ups take place. Opening hours can change and so check its social media.
We have visited this pub twice, seen 2 different beers and tried both.
