| Dark Star - Hophead (was 3.8%) brewed by Fuller's | 3.40 | ![]() | Very good head and lacing and lasting on this now Fuller’s brewed session golden ale from their Griffin Brewery in Chiswick which now belongs to the Japanese firm, Asahi Breweries, following their January 2019 takeover. A pleasurably hoppy first hit. A dry fruitiness rising with elderflower and citrus flavours. A dry lingering hoppiness pervading aided by its Cascade hops with a bitter aftertaste. |

The pub is found in Dunton Green, Kent, TN13 2UF.
The Miners Arms, 22 London Road, Dunton Green, was built to cater for construction workers building the nearby railway in the 19th century and which led to Dunton Green station opening in 1868 to serve the growing village, and later gaining a notable branch line to Westerham in 1881 but which no longer runs. Refurbishment work uncovered the 100-year-old front signage of the now deceased brewery, Kidd and Son of Dartford, and a feature on entering the pub. The pub retains its original bar features and a log fire to one side of the bar. There are two log burners on the covered rear terrace overlooking a spacious garden with seating in communal huts. A Mr Kevin Flack shared with Kent's archival website for public houses, dover-kent.com, why the pub was so named? The miners in the pub's name were not coal miners but Welsh miners who came to dig tunnels (referring to the Polhill and Sevenoaks tunnels) for when the railway came to Dunton Green. There were by all accounts pictures up inside the pub of them. Observing the miners living in such squalor while on a visit, this was the inspiration for part of Karl Marx’s Das Kapital, a theoretical work that provided a comprehensive analysis and critique of the capitalist system. The pub is family-friendly with a strong sense of community, as noted by the local CAMRA branch entry, with live music at weekends. There were two cask ales available on a visit in December 2025 and the pub is currently in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide. This pub only does food weekday lunchtimes according to CAMRA and so unlike the vast majority, very much leaning towards being a wet-led pub.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
