2nd visit of Reading and its environs: Not overly busy for prompt friendly service early afternoon. Had a look at the beers and moved on to hopefully sample some more local ones in the vicinity.

About The Cross Keys

Website.

The pub is found in Pangbourne, Berkshire, RG8 7AR.

2nd visit of Reading and its environs: The Cross Keys in Church Road, Pangbourne, is a low-beamed pub with its current structure primarily early-to-mid 18th century, and featuring 19th-century alterations and additions to the rear. It is Grade II-listed. Its riverside beer garden backs onto the River Pang which is said to host a multitude of fish. Viewed from the pub’s terrace, this watercourse was the inspiration for Kenneth Grahame’s ‘The Wind in the Willows’ novel of 1908. The pub's kitchen offers a grill and pizza-based food menu. Three real ales available on a visit at the end of February 2026. The freehold owner is Greene King and so two were from that brewer.

We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 0 of them.
