| Timothy Taylor - Golden Best (was 3.5%) | 3.40 | ![]() | This golden-coloured mild crafted at the historic Knowle Spring Brewery in Keighley, West Yorkshire, which was set up in 1863, came with a good head and with lasting lacing. A both hoppy with subtle stone fruits flavours and biscuity malty first hit. A malty hoppiness rising from its Golden Promise barley, a premium heritage malt more commonly reserved for high-end Scotch whiskies, and here lending a gentle sweetness. A fruited bitterness prevailing and from its exclusive, whole-leaf English hops such as Fuggles and Goldings, rather than using processed pellets, and here lending a subtle grassy earthiness. Served in good nick but somewhat thin tasting methinks. |

The pub is found in St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL3 4ER.
This building at 7 George Street dates from the 15th century and was formerly known as the Old Kings Arms, and is now listed by CAMRA as the King’s Arms and in brackets, Dylans at The Kings Arms. It has a smallish front bar and a dining area in the open-plan backroom. Food-led with and an exclusive dining area for this purpose only and where you can also eat in the front bar, except on Sundays, but where the front area has very limited seating. Two cask ales on a visit in May 2026 and with a 20p per pint of real ale or real cider CAMRA discount. In addition, there was real cider and some unpasteurised and unfiltered beers on KeyKeg dispense as well as bottles and cans. The pub is owned and run by the Hughes family, licensees of the nearby Boot Inn.
We have visited this pub once, seen 2 different beers and tried 1 of them.
