Friendly and welcoming as always. Probably my favourite pub in this corner of Wales. Although the beer may disappoint the welcome won't. Good homely food too.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Brecon - Welsh Beacons3.70PoorFlat.

Always a pleasure to revisit this friendly local.

Bustling, friendly sort of place. Locals laughed, in a good natured way, at my attempts to pronounce local place names.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Conwy (Bragdy Conwy) - Honey Fayre4.50AcceptableBit of cardboard, bit of biscuit. Well served.
Big Bog - Super7.00Not TriedToo early in the evening for a barley wine. Full marks to the pub for offering it though.
04 May 2013 (Ray)
Pleased to see they are doing so well. On a Saturday evening there was not a seat to be had.

On a cold wet evening a warm by the stove was just what was needed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Big Bog - Quagmire6.00ExcellentNot normally a fan of Big Bog beers this Old Ale hit the spot.Sweet and fruity on the nose carried through to a dark fruit flavour with the abv well concealed by smooth malt. Slightly sweet but drying finish. Initially scored as 'Good' I've upgraded.
Cottage - Mallard IPA4.10PoorMost certainly not an IPA. Total absence of hops but that typical Cottage 'cardy' twang. Now brewed to 4%.
26 Mar 2012 (Ray)
Sat out at the front and enjoyed views of Criccieth Castle.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Spitting Feathers - Special Ale4.20GoodChestnut, basically malty beer with some dark fruit notes and refreshing brett. hints which probably shouldn't have been there.
13 Mar 2012 (Ray)
Quiet early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Big Bog - Spring Bog4.00AcceptableInitially refreshing zesty golden soon reveals lack of body and depth of flavour.
06 Mar 2012 (Ray)
Friendly local.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cottage - Tornado4.00AcceptablePredominantly malty mid-brown ale served in excellent condition. Untroubled by hops but at least the Cottage signature (cardboard) was missing too.
24 Feb 2012 (Ray)
Curry night. Beer and a curry £10. Very busy.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Conwy (Bragdy Conwy) - Scrum Down4.00AcceptableA little sharp; perhaps could have done with another day in the cellar.
14 Feb 2012 (Ray)
Quick beer and home.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Conwy (Bragdy Conwy) - Honey Fayre4.50GoodHoney coloured and lightly honey flavoured. Good dry bittering finish.
