Evening. Large party in one corner. Claimed CAMRA discount but one can't claim that and the Castle Rock One over the Eight stamp too apparently!

I’ve only been here once before, when it was absolutely jammed for a beer festival. Tonight there are just 6 other customers – three canoodling couples tucked into dark corners. I decide on a very quick pint and onwards.

Mid evening visit. On Saturdays more a venue than a pub. Euro football screening of Germany v. Portugal. Canalhouse gives a real ale discount for card carrying CAMRA members but this was not prompted by bar staff nor signed - I only found out afterwards whilst reading Nottingham Drinker so not catering very well for casual visiting members.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Full Mash - E.S.P.3.80ExcellentFirst rate golden ale - full of zest and excellent mouthfeel. "Forced" a second one down

Castle Rock - Mink2.80Not TriedAt £2.80 p.p. it seems to defy the hope that low gravity beer tax savings might pass partly to the customer. More expensive than £2.70 Sheriff's Tipple at 3.4%
20 May 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy on a Sunday late afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Grainstore - Rutland Panther3.40AcceptableNot a great sample of this black mild, lacking in the usual strong roasted malt flavour with a rather dry finish. My score 14/20.

Hosting the SIBA champions beer festival although by the Saturday mainly dark beers were all that was left, not that I minded.
