We arrived soon after 12:00, and managed to secure a table for lunch. The place soon filled up, but the service and food was excellent.

Early evening, and the pub was starting to get busy. We were updated on progress with their sister pub, the Golden Ball at Kennington which should re-open towards the end of this year as The Old Mill. We enjoyed several pints and some Mexican Garlic Bread.

Making the most of our year long pass into Leeds Castle we found ourselves out near Maidstone again. A quick search on PubsandBeer told me that this pub was likely to have some interesting beers on. We got there at about 12 and by 1pm it was packed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Abigale - Samphire4.10GoodToo warm which made me wonder if it had spent the night in the pipes. Rich and sharp. Took me a while to work out that the distinctive flavour it had was very similar to Harvey's yeastiness. Still waiting to find a well served pint of this so I can properly assess it.
Goacher's - Fine Light Ale3.70AcceptableLacklustre.

Made me change from my vest on a hot day. The women in vests were allowed to keep theirs on though. Mainly foody pub but with the odd guest ale on. Nice position opposite the Green.

The pub is found in Bearsted, Kent, ME14 4EJ.

Located on one of the prettiest village greens in England. The pub itself can be traced back to 1665 in an agreement between Daniel Birkman (a distiller), a Thomas Buffield and Christopher Longley, a gentleman of Bearsted. Mr Longley was paid £200 for: ‘All that messuage or tenement not known by the signe of the Oake Inn, one stable, two gardens, one orchard, one piece or parcel of land belonging containing estimated two acres’. Local word of mouth maintains that, historically, parts of the Oak (now the kitchens) were once a holding Gaol for the local courtroom. Reported in November 2016 as sold by Village Green Restaurants to Shepherd Neame.

We have visited this pub 16 times, seen 19 different beers and tried 14 of them.
