Evening. Challenged by another customer as to whether I was the famous Sheffield Sainsbury's bag man seen regularly around the Kelham Island pubs there most Friday nights having travelled from London! I had to upset him by saying no and had just bought my sandwiches for the journey home from said store.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Castle Rock - Twayblade6.00ExcellentMonthly beer. Superb and I agreed with the barman's assertion that it had overtones of blackcurrant and blackberry. If I ruled the World this would replace Screech Owl as a Castle Rock regular

I’ve been coming in here since the pub’s days as the Tom Hoskins (before one of our group was even born, as it turns out) and always try to fit it into any Nottingham pub crawl. We sit in the new extension, the ‘Spyke Golding’ room.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Castle Rock - Black Gold3.50GoodI finish what has been a long day with an old favourite mild.
Dukeries - Baronet3.90GoodMy first sighting of a beer from this new Worksop brewery. It is a good, brown-coloured, traditional bitter.

Glad I moved on here as I caught the end of a good live jazz set, before dashing for my train home. The pub is much more obviously now a brewery tap than the guest beer house it once was.
BeerABVScoreNotes

The pub is found in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG2 1NB.

Near to the railway station, this is the brewery tap for the Castle Rock brewery next door. The Victorian building was rebuilt in the 1930s and was previously known as the Grove. Centre bar serves 3 rooms. Good pub with 13 handpumps plus a good range of continental draught and bottled beers. Excellent range of whiskies too. Seating outside at the front of the pub too for good weather. In 2011 an extension was added, The Goldings Room, named after a local CAMRA notable and Nottingham Drinker Magazine Editor who had recently died.

We have visited this pub 31 times, seen 74 different beers and tried 37 of them.
