12:30 visit. Busy busy with visitors outside for a Monday I thought. Quiet inside at this time, but an excellent bonus for my Northern pals with the two Truman ales on?

Passing trade dominated. Sat at the back wondering how long ago it was that this was the Olive Branch with its heady days of lager-tops.
St Austell - Nicholson's Pale Ale | 4.00 | | Reasonable condition. Pale amber beer. No real bite on the finish. |
Hopdaemon - Incubus | 4.00 | Not Tried
Liberation (formerly called Jersey) - India Pale Ale (IPA) | 5.20 | Not Tried

23 Dec 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Emptying out a bit towards the end of the Sunday lunch session.
Sambrook's - London Winter Ale | 4.60 | | Excellent strong dark bitter with good toffee malt character balanced with some hop bitterness to give a full flavoured and quaffable winter warmer. My score 16/20. |
20 Oct 2012 (Ian)
Still full of tourists so difficult ever to really build an atmosphere in this pub.

St Austell - Nicholson's Pale Ale | 4.00 | Not Tried

1230 and busy with diners. Some good festive ales on though.
Brentwood - Ho Ho Soho | 5.10 | | Very good dark un'. Brewed especially for the Nicholson's Xmas list for the South-East area. Ingredients were selected by the boss here. |

Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
29 Oct 2011 (Ian)
The service for the last 4 times I have been has been too slow. I mean worse than in a Wetherspoons slow. Eventually I had to grab somoeone and ask if anyone was actually serving behind the bar.
Brentwood - Spooky Moon | 3.80 | | Odd acidity to it, but some nutty malts. |
Adnams - Southwold Bitter | 3.70 | Not Tried
25 May 2011 (Andrew)
Popped my head in only to see it was undergoing what looked like a major refurb.
01 Feb 2011 (Ian)
Brilliant Nicholsons pub in heart of Canterbury. Even got a cellar run of the Adnams Abbey beer. Nothing like being recognised in a busy pub.
BrewDog - Alpha Dog | 4.50 | | 3.8% version. Complex aroma with malt and fruit and just a very complex light ABV beer. |
Thornbridge / Thornbridge Hall - Hark | 4.80 | | Spicy pale winter beer. Bit ascetic on the hops this year |
Sharp's - Doom Bar | 4.00 | Not Tried
Ascot - Anastasia's Stout | 5.00 | Not Tried
07 Jan 2011 (Ian)
