A noon arrival meant the pub was not too busy and we had the pick of the seating areas in the upper section of the basement bar. Robert spend most of the time trawling the telephone directory-sized beer menu for obscurities, occasionally going to the bar to make a triumphant new order. I just had ‘one of the same’.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brouwerij Walrave - Tovershekske5.90ExcellentA fantastically rare bottled beer apparently, from a tiny, traditional, village brewer. It is a bit odd. A Flemish Brown Ale, I guess. Filtered to clarity, it is spicy and tastes of orange peel. I liked it a lot.
Brasserie La Barbiot - La Barbiot Ambree9.00GoodAn orange-coloured beer, served from a 75cl bottle. Very foamy in the bottle and the beer has a lot of brett sourness, suggesting a strong secondary fermentation with wild yeast?. Not sure if it is meant to be like that, but we found it rather pleasant – somewhere between a geueze and an amber beer.
Brasserie Artisanale la Frasnoise - Givree6.30GoodA cloudy, amber-coloured, bottled beer. Smooth and caramely.
Café-Brouwerij Nieuwhuys - Cuvée van de Generaal8.50GoodAnother rarity and a good, bottled, blonde beer.

The pub is found in Brussels, Belgium, 1000.

Probably the best-known beer speciality pub in Brussels. It is situated a short walk from the Grand Place, in the miniscule Impasse Fidelite. Actually, the pub now forms part of the Delirium Village, which occupies the entire alleyway and has six or seven separate bars, with varying opening hours. At its heart is the original Café, which has a ground floor "Tap Room" featuring keg beers and the large basement bar which has up to 2,000 bottled beers in stock at any time. It is just the place to look for that obscure brewery bottle you have been seeking. The beer is supplemented by excellent cheese or cold meat platters. Often very busy.

We have visited this pub 11 times, seen 20 different beers and tried them all.
