I thought I'd try a couple of pubs before my Travelodge allowed me to check in. Quiet mid afternoon and quite pleasant and gave me the chance to type this up for free. OK Spoons.

I came in for a very fast half before heading up towards the university.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marston's - Heart Warmer4.50AcceptableAmber/copper colour with lasting beige head. Served too cold. Yeast, and some hop aroma. Very earthy, bit of Burton style yeast aroma. Fair juiciness in mouth. Dry earthy finish. Bit of citrus tingle. Not mad on the eggy aroma. Rest of beer is ok though, bit of lemon on finish.

What can I say? It's got all of the good and bad points of all the 'Spoons. Not enough staff, but it's informal enough to be sat by yourself, the beer is relatively cheap and there is normally one or two good beers on.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Robinsons - Dark Horse4.30GoodBlack beer with brown edges, lasting beige head. So this is good. There has been a lot of traffic on Scoopgen about this beer. Some dark malts on aroma, good sourish dark fruits, bit of dark choc. Juicy, rather than powdery, but there is roasted dryness and some hop on end. Intense finish of sour fruit, bit of liquorice, some molasses. Oddly likeable. Not a bitter mind, more an old ale or porter.
