18:20 Went to Brick Lane for a curry but decided to have more beer instead. Wedged.

18:15 Pre curry drink. Pavement was full but inside was less so and we got a table with ease. I mentioned to my wife that this was a proper pub. Soon after a couple of city types came in sat near us and made exactly the same observation.

Early opening today on account of Leyton Orient’s appearance at Wembley Stadium, and I join a group of around 70 supporters here at 11am for a few beers to sharpen our appetite for the game. In many ways it is the best part of the day in fact.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | | Perfect, refreshing lunchtime beer. |

Back in east London after a day at the races, our Stag Night numbers are swollen and we have several pints and a generally jolly time in the street outside this little pub, before going for a very unsatisfactory and over-priced Brick Lane curry at ‘Alladin’.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | | I see little reason to try other beers when this excellent stalwart is available. |

Last stop before my train home. Packed but managed to get a table.

I joined a mid-evening CAMRA social here, with a dozen or more members present. A large buffet miraculously appeared, although I was unable to do it justice being full of curry on arrival.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | | I stuck with this excellent, light, hoppy beer. |

A good crowd of locals and some Italian tourists in the early evening.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | | A great malt and hops blend which always seems to taste extra good in this pub. |
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Truman's Emperor | 4.50 | | A very ordinary, brown bitter which does not live up to its name. Tangy Crystal Malt taste. |

Monday is a good evening to visit the Pride as i) it is not infested with City Boys out for a pre- or post-curry pint, and ii) it is vinyl 45s night. The irony that this pub, a former Ind Coope bastion but standing in the shadow of the former Truman’s Brewery, should be selling a beer called Truman’s was not lost on the older regulars.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | | The beer of choice here – always excellent. |
Everards (see entries against Joule's & Robinsons whilst its new brewery was being built) - Truman's Swift & Swallow | 3.90 | | People are still saying that the Truman’s beers are currently brewed at Everard’s, so that is where I’m listing this one. A golden, spring beer. Similar is taste to the Truman’s Runner, perhaps with an extra handful of hops. |

Met up with a friend before going to the Brew Dog Zeitgeist launch at the top of Brick Lane. Good back street boozer. Good pork scratchings too.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | | Regular beer at this pub and in good condition and good depth of flavours. |

I wanted to give this another go as the pub has a good reputation and I wanted some Crouch Vale Brewers Gold. Smallish bar serves 2 rooms. Red carpet, 5 handpumps, pictures of old local interest on walls. Good mix of locals talking about the pub and horse racing.
Crouch Vale - Brewers Gold | 4.00 | | Gold, thin lasting white head. Great condition, lovely sherberty, grapefruit. Benchmark beer along with Dark Star Hophead and Oakham JHB. |
