Visits Details

11 Jul 2019 (Stephen Harris)
Busy in here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Silent Alarm5.00ExcellentFrom key-keg. A thick murk fruit thing.
04 Jun 2019 (Stephen Harris)
The enlarged brewery is now functional and the bar is busier than I expected for a rainy Tuesday early evening.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Gnome Parade8.00ExcellentA strong IPA. A very slow keg pour with minimal carbonation. It's a murky gold, soft, fruit smoothie thing with minimal bitterness.
26 Apr 2019 (Stephen Harris)
A flying visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Limone Life5.40ExcellentFresh from the tank. Cloudy gold. No surprise to find that it is very lemony.
03 Mar 2019 (Stephen Harris)
Relatively quiet here on Sunday afternoon. New equipment (ex-Presure Drop) is being installed to increase brewery capacity- so guest beers only today.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Deviant & Dandy - No Figgity Stout8.00ExcellentVery full-flavoured.
01 Feb 2019 (Stephen Harris)
A busy evening session. It's good to see how this venue is developing.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Yum Yum Juice5.50ExcellentDirect from the tank. Murky gold. A citrusy Pale Ale with Rakau, Waimea and Huell Melon hops in a really nice blend.
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - I Need More Dates7.00ExcellentDirect from the tank. Black and a little bit flat. Dates, honey and lactose.
Deviant & Dandy - No Figgity Stout8.00ExcellentA strong Stout with added figs.
09 Nov 2018 (Stephen Harris)
There are two Old Street Brewery beers available direct from the tanks tonight, alongside several guest kegs.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Desert Sunrise6.70ExcellentA pale beer, well-hopped with Citra and Mosaic. It also has a pleasant fruitiness which I discover comes from cactus.
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Yum Yum Juice5.50Not Tried
16 Sep 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Early evening on a relaxed late-summer Sunday.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - I'm So Brutiful6.70ExcellentCloudy gold, full-bodied and dry.
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Peely Wally5.50GoodIn the currently ubiquitous, cloudy gold, soft and fruity style.
20 Jul 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Quite busy in the mid-evening, including a couple of friends to natter with. I have not quite worked out the ‘real ale’ status of the beers here. The beers brewed on site are served direct from the tanks in a similar way to those at Zero Degrees or Howling Hops. Not sure if any gas is added. Anyway, they are very drinkable.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Schlub Juice6.00GoodA very bitter, murky brew.
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - My Dad is a Carrot6.50GoodA West Coast IPA style. No carrots were harmed in its making apparently.
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - Pleasant Juice7.40AcceptableThe murkiest NEIPA I have encountered yet.
26 Apr 2018 (Stephen Harris)
A small gathering of people here in the mid-evening. All home brewed beer is apparently ‘sold out’.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Good Chemistry - Natural Selection4.00AcceptableFrom some kind of keg arrangement and overly fizzy. Pale gold and dry.
06 Apr 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Although the Taproom had a soft launch a couple of weeks ago, tonight seems to be the first night with an Old Street Brewery beer actually for sale. I thought the advertised prices were quite a bargain, until I discovered that all beer is sold by the two-thirds of a pint measure.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Old Street (formerly Queen's Head) - No Room to Fail5.00AcceptablePoured straight from the conditioning tank. A fierce Pale Ale – a bit raw I thought.
