Visits Details

22 Jun 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Duration - Another Day Done4.40AcceptableI suppose this was in OK condition but who knows when served as a milk shake looking murk. The tasting notes said "pours bright with light haze" and that was patently wrong for this pint pulled
15 Jun 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit. Still just one handpump in use with the other awaiting spare parts for repair.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Mallinsons - Mandarina Bavaria4.00GoodAlways professional brews from Mallinsons
01 Jun 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit. Looks like a departure from the £4.75pp across the board cask pricing in now in action.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Left Handed Giant - Sing Loud (collaboration with Fyne)5.50GoodA well balanced full bodied mid brown jobbie - very enjoyable slow drinker
Siren Craft - White Tips4.50Not TriedOne definitely not for me
28 May 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit until a bank holiday Sunday extended closing time. Soon, though, the only punter in. As a nightcap here tried a fizz The Kernel 6.5% Bitter Simonds 1880, an old recipe re-creation - held little head or lacing at all.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Marble - Modus Mosaic3.40AcceptableA thin brew probably been in pipes for a while
25 May 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit. Only one handpump in use as the other has a broken cylinder.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Squawk - Pavo - Pale Ale3.80GoodNicely balanced, none of the harsh citrus tones I had feared
18 May 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Torrside - Candlewick4.00GoodWould have muchly benefited from being served cooler, a regular problem with cask ale here
Elusive - Buckets Don't Rust in Space (collaboration with The Rusty Bucket Pub)4.50Not TriedA Citra & Mosaic Pale Ale
11 May 2023 (Philip Pirrip)

BeerABVScoreNotes
Pomona Island - Tarquell3.80GoodFull bodied for its ABV
Squawk - Crex4.50Not TriedClip said Unfined so automatic no go
04 May 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit. Brewery people from Disruption IS Brewing on site tonight and gave good debate about cask v keg.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Disruption IS Brewing (sub-brand of Ascot) - More Chaos5.00GoodA milky murk with no harshness of hopping
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40Not Tried
30 Apr 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit using extended bank holiday Sunday hours.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Torrside - Mister Pipes4.00AcceptableDisappointing very malty brown ale, if there were hops they were hiding
Burning Sky - Plateau (was 3.5%)3.40Not Tried
20 Apr 2023 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening visit, sparsely populated.
BeerABVScoreNotes

The pub is found in Blackheath, Greater London, SE3 7AA.

A pub and small brewery venture in the Royal Standard area of Blackheath in Vanbrugh Park. It is a conversion of the previous imposing Barclays Bank building. It is the brainchild of the Common Rioters Brewery. Soft openings on 8th and 9th July 2022 to test systems and logistics then open from 13th July 2022. 20 wall keg taps on white tiled bar back wall and 2 handpumps on the basic wooden bar counter. The brewery is visible from inside the bar room at the far right hand end but at autumn 2024 is still not operative. Seating is at low tables and chairs. Emphasis is clearly on keg sales at the usual higher prices for them. Card payment only, cash not accepted. Initially open Wednesday to Sunday only, now Tuesday too.

We have visited this pub 89 times, seen 104 different beers and tried 75 of them.
